Induratio penis plastica
Have you noticed bending or deformity when your penis becomes erect (erection) or do you develop pain in your penis especially on erection? – If so, then you may be suffering from a condition known as Induratio penis plastica (growth of fibrous plaques in the soft tissues of the penis.). Peyronie’s disease is a disorder involving an increasing growth of fibrous plaques in the soft tissue of the penis causing pain on erection and / or bending of the penis. Bending of the penis on erection can be so pronounced that sexual intercourse is no longer possible. A certain percentage of men with Peyronie's Disease also develop fibrosis in other elastic tissues of the body such as on the hand (Dupuytren’s contracture) or on the sole of the foot.
A non-invasive, relatively painless, conservative therapy (iontophoresis) can lead to alleviation in the symptoms of almost 95% of all patients with painful erections. Bending or deformity of the penis can also be treated using this method, whereby it is usually not possible to completely remove plaques (scar tissue formed by the inflammation). The longer you’ve had this disease, the fewer chances you’ve got of a successful outcome. An operation always has to be decided individually with the patient.
Basically, the earlier you start treatment, the sooner you can expect a successful outcome. If you think you are suffering from this disease, please make sure to come in as soon as possible for a consultation.
